Guru Nanak worked here as a storekeeper. One morning he went into the Vein river and disappeared for three days. When he came back he said: “There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim.”

While weighing grain, he would count “ek, do, … tera” (one, two, … thirteen). “Tera” also means “Yours”, and he kept repeating “Tera, tera” — everything is Yours, God — giving away more and more. His sister Bebe Nanaki also lived in Sultanpur Lodhi.
